11/2-Adam Hurtado

Adam Hurtado-Eliminated, NBC's "The Biggest Loser"

Hometown: Santa Ana, Calif.
Occupation: Non-profit manager
Adam’s motivation to lose weight stemmed from a devastating personal loss – losing his best friend and mother, Nancy, at 51 due to massive heart failure brought on by complications of diabetes and obesity. At that point, he knew he had to honor his mother by changing his life and getting healthy. Adam was always overweight, a combination of poor diet, lack of exercise and over-eating. He grew up with his younger brother in Santa Ana, Calif., and attended Orange Coast College and Cal State Fullerton. Now 402 pounds at age 26, Adam wants to finally lose the weight and help motivate others, including family members struggling with obesity. He wants to feel good about himself inside and out, and looks forward to traveling with his brother and enjoying an active, healthy lifestyle.
Adam’s mother worked as an administrator for a medical center, where she helped with an annual Christmas toy and food drive for local, low-income families. Adam and his family are continuing the successful, 15-year program, which the medical center renamed as Nancy’s Miracle Toy Drive to honor his mother.
THE BIGGEST LOSER Episode 1007 (Airing Tuesday, November 2 (8-9 p.m. ET)
THE CONTESTANTS LIVE AND TRAIN LIKE MARINES AT CAMP PENDLETON -- It’s the adventure of a lifetime when “The Biggest Loser” contestants are whisked away on military trucks to Camp Pendleton, where they will live and train like Marines for the week. There, they hit the ground running with a fast-paced week of activities led by a select group of Marines. It’s non-stop action, from hiking with oversized backpacks to early morning rifle exercises to an intense obstacle course challenge that pits blue team vs. black, with a prize the players want now more than ever. While some struggle with the physical challenges and the adjustment of being away from the ranch, others thrive, and one even shaves his head to be just like the Marines! Later, the players meet up with trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels at the Camp Pendleton gym for a Marine-style last chance workout, and then a weigh-in full of surprising numbers is followed by another player being eliminated. Host Alison Sweeney also stars.
