Moonalice
Moonalice is a Native American tribe that dates back to the beginning of time. According to Moonalice legend, the tribe descends from Piltdown Woman, or possibly from a couple of naked, snake-charmed gardeners who liked to hang around with friendly dinosaurs. In later times, the tribe evolved into two major clans. One was agricultural, the other nomadic. The farmers were known as hippies. They cultivated many things, but their specialty was a native American crop: hemp. Over the years, the hippies found many uses for hemp and built an advanced culture around it.

FLASHBACK: "Time of the Season" is a song by The Zombies, featured on the 1968 album Odessey and Oracle. The song was written by keyboard player Rod Argent and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in August 1967. Several other songs from Odessey and Oracle were released as singles prior to "Time of the Season." Columbia Records supported the album and its singles at the urging of new A&R Rep, Al Kooper. One of the singles Kooper pushed for was the quite-uncommercial sounding "Butcher's Tale," which he and Columbia thought might catch on as an anti-war statement, at the time a popular trend. "Time of the Season" was only released at Kooper's urging, after previous singles flopped, and made its breakthrough in 1969, over a year after the band split up, reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 early in the year. The song's characteristics include the unique voice of lead singer Colin Blunstone, the memorable bass riff, and Rod Argent's fast-paced psychedelic improvisation. The lyrics are an archetypical depiction of the emotions surrounding the Summer of Love. It is famous for its call-and-response verses "What's your name? (What's your name?)/Who's your daddy? (Who's your daddy?)/(He rich?) Is he rich like me?". Its riffs also are similar to Ben E. King's hit single "Stand By Me".

FLASHBACK - "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" is a song written and recorded by Gary DeCarlo, Dale Frashuer, and Paul Leka; attributed to a then-fictitious band "Steam," it was released under the Mercury subsidiary label Fontana. It became a number one pop single on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1969. Although subsequent recordings and a quickly assembled touring band Steam met with little success, "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" remains a perennial favorite. With DeCarlo as lead vocalist, the three musicians recorded the song in one recording session. Instead of using a full band, Leka spliced together a drum track from one of DeCarlo's four singles and played keyboards himself. "I said we should put a chorus to it (to make it longer)," Leka told Fred Bronson in The Billboard Book of Number One Hits. "I started writing while I was sitting at the piano going 'na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na'...Everything was 'na na' when you didn't have a lyric." Someone else added "hey hey." (Bronson,2003)To everyone's great surprise, the powers-that-be at the label decided to release the song, now named "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", as the A-side on Fontana, a Mercury Records subsidiary. Leka thought it was "an embarrassing record, not that Gary sang it badly. But compared to his four songs, it was an insult." (Bronson, 2003) Since none of the musicians wanted credit for the tune, a nonexistent group, "Steam", was concocted. "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" rapidly rose to the top of the pop charts, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for a pair of weeks, on December 6 and 13 of 1969; it was Billboard (magazine)'s final multi-week #1 hit of the 1960s. A touring band, quickly assembled and dubbed "Steam" by their producer, Paul Leka, went on tour with the song but quickly disbanded in 1970. Despite the demise of the original band, "Na Na Hey Hey" continued to ride the charts during the 1970s. The original recording of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" has been released in many collections of oldies songs and re-recorded by other groups. In February 1983, UK girl group Bananarama released the song as a single off their album Deep Sea Skiving. This version became a top ten hit in the United Kingdom, but only a minor hit in the US (Billboard #101) later that year.

Alton Scarborough "Renaissance"
Alton McClain Scarborough launched her singing career in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Her first manager took her into the studio to cut a single, COME BACK BABY with famed R&B drummer Bernard Purdie producing. The record sold 20,000 copies in the Baltimore/Washington area alone and Alton's career was off and running. Alton then did a series of solo performances and commercials before moving to Los Angeles. With a new manager Alton met her first producer, Frank Wilson who subsequently introduced her to D'Marie Warren and Robyrda Stiger and Alton McClain & Destiny was born.Fronted by Alton's soulful vocals, the group's first album for PolydorRecords produced the Top 40 hit IT MUST BE LOVE. On the strength of that song, the group toured with Teddy Pendergrass, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Chic, Peobo Bryson, The Gap Band and Millie Jackson. They appeared on national television and did a successful tour in Europe. The second album MORE OF YOU was a wonderful collection of upbeat dance tunes and heart wrenching ballads that displayed Alton's unique vocal styling and versatility. However, it was the third album, GONNA TELL THE WORLD, the title having almost a prophetic ring that would bring about many changes in Alton's life. This album was produced by Grammy award winning songwriter, Skip Scarborough. He was indeed Alton's "destiny" and out of that production would come a beautiful marriage and a great music team through which Alton was "gonna tell the world" a different kind of message.

Danielle Holland - Goodbye Analog, Hello Digital

Many older Americans depend on television for critical news and safety information, and may face significant challenges when television signals become exclusively digital on June 12th. Television stations will stop sending out program signals on their analog channels completely by that date but this won’t signal the end of free broadcast television. Your favorite broadcast programs and local television stations will still be available. While the change will mean better quality television picture and more channel options, some may be overwhelmed and confused by the conversion process.

FLASHBACK - Jack Leroy "Jackie" Wilson, Jr. (June 9, 1934 – January 21, 1984) was an American singer. Wilson was important in the transition of rhythm and blues into soul. Gaining fame in his early years as a member of the R&B vocal group, The Dominoes, after going solo in 1957 he went on to record over fifty hit singles over a repertoire that included R&B, pop, soul, doo-wop and easy listening before lapsing into a coma following a collapse on stage during a 1975 benefit concert. By the time of his death in 1984, he had become one of the most influential soul artists of his generation Wilson was shot and wounded by one of his alleged lovers, Juanita Jones, on February 15, 1961. Allegedly, Jones shot Wilson in a jealous rage when he returned to his apartment with another woman, fashion model Harlean Harris, an ex-girlfriend of Sam Cooke. In order to protect his reputation, Wilson's management concocted a story that Jones was an obsessed fan who threatened to shoot herself, and that Wilson's intervention concluded in his being shot. The story was accepted, and no charges were brought against Jones. Freda Hood, Jackie's first wife with whom he had four children, divorced him in 1965 after fourteen years of marriage. He married Harris in 1967, but split up soon after. Jackie later met and lived with Lynn Crochet, and they had two children. He was with Lynn up until his heart attack and on-stage accident in 1975. However, as he and Harris never officially divorced, Harris took the role of Wilson's caretaker for the singer's remaining nine years. Wilson was a convert to Judaism. Wilson suffered a massive heart attack while playing a Dick Clark show at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on September 29, 1975, falling head-first to the stage while singing "Lonely Teardrops". The blow to the head Wilson suffered left him comatose. For the next eight years and four months, he was in a vegetative state until his death at age 49. Al Green and Elvis Presley were some of the few artists who regularly visited the bed-ridden Wilson. A little known fact is that when he found out that Jackie was broke, Dick Clark paid all of Jackie's medical bills up to the day he died.[citation needed] According to the 2005 biography, Jackie Wilson: Lonely Teardrops, he received a well-publicized funeral attended by approximately 1,500 relatives, friends and fans. He is interred in the Westlawn Cemetery in Wayne, Michigan.

FLASHBACK: "Cheeseburger in Paradise" is a song written and performed by American popular music singer Jimmy Buffett. It appeared on his 1978 album Son of a Son of a Sailor and was released as a single, reaching #32 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Cheeseburger in Paradise" has become one of Buffett's best-known songs and was selected as the first track on his greatest hits album Songs You Know by Heart. According to Buffett's Margaritaville web site, the myth of the "cheeseburger in paradise" was inspired by a boat journey Buffett once took in the Caribbean. Buffett states that while subsisting on canned food and peanut butter, he envisioned eating a "piping hot cheeseburger". He reports that upon finally arriving in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, he was surprised to find a restaurant serving American cheeseburgers:
...we gave particular instructions to the waiter on how we wanted them cooked and what we wanted on them -- to which little attention was paid. It didn't matter. The overdone burgers on the burned, toasted buns tasted like manna from heaven, for they were the realization of my fantasy burgers on the trip. In 2002, Buffett's company Margaritaville Holdings LLC licensed the name of the song to OSI Restaurant Partners as the name of the Buffett-themed Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chain. As of 2006, the restaurant has 38 locations in 17 states in the United States. A Cheeseburger in Paradise is also a menu item at Buffett-owned Margaritaville Cafes located in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
