Dr. Dathan Paterno "DESPERATELY SEEKING PARENTS "
Nutrition is an important part of growing up - but how do you make sure you are the one making decisions? Dr. Paterno illustrates how to become a Parent in Charge by using simple, proven methods. “The question of hierarchy in the family is not whether someone should be in charge of your family. The question is who will be in charge of your family. The truth is, someone will lead and take control of your family.” The first parenting book to utilize the Family Constitution, Dr. Paterno explicitly champions parents' rights, simplifies parental expectations and rewards children can earn, and rejects the current trend of reducing expectations because of so-called diseases, disorders, and disabilities.

Chef & Mom Alex Guarnaschelli-Food Network Star
What’s Your Family’s Lunchtime Challenge? Chef and Mom Alex Guarnaschelli Offers Help in the Kitchen Making lunch is only one of the challenges parents face every day, but it is often one of the most dreaded. Preparing a lunch that tastes great and is also nutritious isn’t easy. The “What’s Your Lunchtime Challenge?” campaign is designed to help moms simplify lunchtime and their lives with tips and recipes from Alex Guarnaschelli and an online contest. During the interview, Guarnaschelli will offer ways to make lunch-packing easier and get your kids involved such as: Plan Ahead – Let your child be a part of the lunch-planning process. Instead of surprising them with new food ideas, let them collaborate and even dictate. Make it Fun – Pack a “Build a Lunch” kit in your child’s lunchbox. Put meats, cheeses and all the fixings in separate containers and let them build their own creations. Get Creative – If you are in a sandwich rut, try other ways to serve a protein-packed lunch. Take a cheese stick, wrap a slice of ham or turkey around it and use a bit of apple butter to ‘glue’ it on. Sara Lee Deli is launching a nationwide contest that asks parents, “What’s Your Lunchtime Challenge?” The new campaign offers moms the opportunity to share their stories with the Sara Lee Deli online community, connect with other moms and win a once-in-lifetime prize: A home visit from celebrity chef and mom, Alex Guarnaschelli. During Guarnaschelli’s home visit, she will help solve the winner’s lunchtime challenge by providing the winner and 10 friends with a day of lunchtime prep and cooking tips. Additionally, the winner will receive a year’s supply of Sara Lee Fresh Ideas deli meat. To enter the contest, moms can submit a 100-word-or-less essay and accompanying photo of their child (or children) that captures the essence of their lunchtime challenge. The contest will be hosted on the Sara Lee Deli Facebook page, www.facebook.com/saraleedeli and entries will be accepted September 13 – October 3. Voting will be followed by a judging period to determine the finalists. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on November 3, National Sandwich Day. Alex Guarnaschelli is the daughter of esteemed cookbook editor, Maria Guarnaschelli. She spent her childhood surrounded by food; learning to eat according to whatever book her mother was working on at the time. Chef Guarnaschelli has appeared on Food Network’s Iron Chef America as both a challenger and as a judge. She is a recurring judge on the popular FN primetime series Chopped and is the host of her own FN shows, The Cooking Loft and Alex’s Day Off. As a woman attempting to balance her career and motherhood, she is constantly working to simplify and prioritize, in… and out of the kitchen.
