WILLIE GARSON (USA's "WHITE COLLAR")
Willie Garson stars as Mozzie in the new USA Network original series WHITE COLLAR .  The talented Garson is rarely at a loss for work, appearing in over 250 TV episodes in a wide variety of programming, and over 70 feature films.  His unorthodox bald and bespectacled look won over fans on "Sex and the City," where he played Carrie's gay best friend, Stanford Blatch.  He is also well known as Henry Coffield on "NYPD Blue" and recently re-teamed Willie Garson with HBO and David Milch on "John from Cincinnati."   Garson will be seen next in the much-anticipated sequel to "Sex and the City" in May 2010. Born and raised in New Jersey, he started training at The Actors Institute in New York when he was only 13, before majoring in theater and psychology at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. After graduation, Garson found his love for acting outweighed his psychology studies and landed guest roles on "Cheers," "Family Ties," "thirtysomething" and "L.A. Law."   He has stayed busy playing several recurring characters in a wide array of TV projects, such as "Just Shoot Me," "Spin City," "Ally McBeal," "The Practice," "Stargate SG-1," "Star Trek: Voyager," "The X-Files," "Medium" and "Pushing Daisies." On the big screen, Garson has collaborated with the Farrelly Brothers in their films  "Kingpin," "There's Something about Mary" and "Fever Pitch."  Garson has appeared in the quirky ensemble comedies "Soapdish," "Mars Attacks" and "Being John Malkovich", and is often used by such varied directors as Michael Bay, Mike Nichols and Spike Jonze. At home on the stage as much as he is on television and in film, Garson continues to perform with various bicoastal theater companies in NY and LA, and was a member of Naked Angels, The Manhattan Theater Club, the Roundabout Theater and the Geffen Playhouse. He's also involved in community and charity organizations – from Big Brothers to Young Artists United. He has read to first graders weekly through the Screen Actors Guild "Bookpals" program, and is involved with AMFAR, Aspen Youth Experience, LA's Alliance for Children's Rights and Camp Joslin Diabetes Center in Massachusetts.  Aside from acting on TV and the big screen, Garson also found success as a celebrity poker player. In 2003, "Evil Willie" (a nickname given to Garson by Don Cheadle for his fierce card playing) won the very first episode of Texas Hold 'Em on Bravo's "Celebrity Poker Showdown," and continues to play in tournaments worldwide and through the World Poker Tour.  Garson recently adopted a son and now resides in Los Angeles and New York.

Larry Harris -  "And Party Everyday"
Larry Harris began working for Buddah/Kama Sutra Records in the summer of 1971 as the local New York promotions man, and in 1973 joined his cousin Neil Bogart in founding Casablanca Records. He became senior vice president and managing director of the company in 1976 and left Casablanca in the fall of 1980. Larry was born in New York and now lives and works in Seattle. February 21, 2009, Playlist ... Now it can be told! The true, behind-the-scenes story of Casablanca Records, from an eyewitness to the excess and insanity. Casablanca was not a product of the 1970s, it was the 1970s. From 1974 to 1980, the landscape of American culture was a banquet of hedonism and self-indulgence, and no person or company in that era was more emblematic of the times than Casablanca Records and its magnetic founder, Neil Bogart. From his daring first signing of KISS, through the discovery and superstardom of Donna Summer, the Village People, and funk master George Clinton and his circus of freaks, Parliament Funkadelic, to the descent into the manic world of disco, this book charts Bogart's meteoric success and eventual collapse under the weight of uncontrolled ego and hype. It is a compelling tale of ambition, greed, excess, and some of the era's biggest music acts.

Gayle Lynds "Watch list"Fans of the TV series 24 will best appreciate this two-part serial thriller written by 22 members of International Thriller Writers. Based on an idea by Deaver (The Broken Window), who provides the opening and closing chapters of each segment, the volume recounts the adventures of middle-aged Harold Middleton, an ex-U.S. military intelligence officer. In co-founder Gayle Lynds ... part one, The Chopin Manuscript, the discovery of a previously unknown Chopin score leads to murders, betrayals, and frantic efforts to stop a villain code-named Faust from carrying out a terrorist outrage. While the contributors include many of the biggest names in the genre (Lee Child, Joseph Finder, Gayle Lynds, S.J. Rozan, etc.), the constraints of the form all but assure homogenized prose, thin characters, and stock action scenes atypical of their solo work

DR. J. JAMES ROHACK M.D - PRES OF THE AMA
HE WILL BE DISCUSSING WHAT MEDICARE CUTS COULD MEAN FOR THE SENIORS AND MILITARY FAMILIES IN THE UNITED STATES.  HEALTH CRISIS LOOMING MARCH 1 FOR SENIORS & MILITARY FAMILIES  American Medical Association President Calls on Senators Nelson and Lemieux to Permanently Fix the Medicare Cuts Problem Before 21 Percent Cut Begins March 1.  Unless the Senate acts, on March 1 seniors and military families will have reduced access to health care and choice of physician because of a steep Medicare physician payment cut of 21 percent. The U.S. Senate has less than three weeks left to act before the cut begins. Already, about one in four Medicare patients looking for a new primary care physician have trouble finding one and this year' cut will make the problem much worse. AMA and AARP are calling on the Senate to repeal the broken formula that projects the cuts to preserve the physician foundation of Medicare for current and future seniors. The baby boomers begin turning 65 next year and the formula must be fixed once and for all to preserve the physician foundation of Medicare for current and future seniors. President of the American Medical Association J. James Rohack, M.D. is a cardiologist practicing in Texas. In 2009 he was voted No. 20 in the 50 Most Powerful Physician Executives in Healthcare by the readers of Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines. Possible interview questions:
American Medical Association ... What will the impact of a 21 percent cut be on seniors and military families?

Why should baby boomers be concerned?
What can Congress do for the overall health reform debate?
Why can't they just pass another short-term fix

The first officer on 3407 had made less than $16,000 the previous year and the captain had failed five flight tests and received inadequate training on a critical safety system involved in the crash. The last six fatal crashes in the U.S. were all on regional lines "and as it turns out, nearly half of all national flights today are operated by regional carriers, although most Americans have no idea of this when they buy their tickets or board their flights. In  "Flying Cheap" airing next Tuesday, Feb 9 on PBS, pilot and FRONTLINE correspondent Miles O'Brien examines what happened during the crash of flight 3407 and talks with industry leaders as well as former Colgan Air pilots about the safety problems of major airlines outsourcing to regional carriers to cut costs--a little known trend in the airline industry. And next week, on the anniversary of the crash, the families of those who died on flight 3407 are marching from the crash site to the Buffalo airport, as a way of finishing their loved ones' journeys.

Chad Wasilenkoff - CEO of banknote-maker Fortress Paper
Did you know that there's only one company in the world authorized to produce the Swiss franc banknotes, which are widely considered to be the most secure currency in the world? Jordan Bank NotesMeet Fortress Paper, www.fortresspaper.com, (TSX: FTP), an international provider of security and other specialty papers, which is the sole manufacturer of the banknote paper for the Swiss franc. While governments continue to improve the quality of banknote paper, overall banknote circulation has continued to grow as a result of economic activity in developing countries and the introduction of the Euro in Europe. Marc and Amy Vachon were determined to beat this doomsday scenario when their first child was born. And thus, their method of equally Equally Shared Parenting ... shared parenting (or ESP) was born. Their strategy was to share everything—the good and the bad. They would be peers in the four areas of their lives: childcare, housework, breadwinning, and time for self. They would share the burdens so that nobody was consistently overwhelmed, and they would share the joys so that neither missed out on experiencing a deep connection with their child. In the process, Marc and Amy launched EquallySharedParenting.com, bringing together a previously untapped community of parents who are transforming the traditional parenthood models with their own take on ESP. Drawing on Marc and Amy's experiences, as well as those of dozens of ESP couples, EQUALLY SHARED PARENTING clearly outlines the benefits and challenges of egalitarian parenting. It presents both the philosophy behind this lifestyle and the everyday steps needed to achieve and maintain it, regardless of income bracket, lifestyle choices, or profession

CHARLES "Keep-A-Knockin" CONNOR
original drummer for Little Richard, created the unique "Choo Choo Train" style of successive eighth notes with a loud backbeat used by nearly all subsequent Rock 'n' Roll drummers and, in fact, his drumsticks are on display at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
The son of a chief chef Merchant Marine seaman and father from Santo-Domingo and a Louisiana-born mother, CONNOR reveals, "I was born in New Orleans, in the heart of the French Quarter, the very hub of Cajun, Blues and down-island rhythms. My mother told me that whenever music was played, I kicked really hard in her womb." He grins and exclaims, "I was born to be a drummer!" He winks and continues, "Probably 'cuz of that exotic Creole and Dominican blood coursing through my veins," then laughs mischievously.  As a toddler, CONNOR was drawn to marching parades and the "second-line funeral bands" playing Dixieland jazz through the streets of New Orleans and loved to hear his father, home on a three-month leave, sing Calypso songs around the house. Imitating the drums, CONNOR banged on pots and pans all-day and cried hard when his mother had to take them away to cook family meals.charles keep a knockin ... Although his parents had two other sons and a daughter and could not afford expensive gifts, they saved enough money to buy CONNOR his first drum set when he was five. When his drumming became "a loud nuisance" to the neighbors, he practiced with his drumsticks four to five hours a day on a practice pad.  Inspired by such notables as Bob Alden, Art Blakey, Charles Otis, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Max Roach, CONNOR dreamed big and diligently spent all his spare time working towards his goal of becoming "a professional drummer." His hard work paid off at age 12 when he began playing drums for local parties and wedding receptions, but his "professional" career began at 15 when Roy "Professor Longhair" Byrd hired him as a last-minute replacement for the 1950 Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Jay "Bird" Dobyns - "NO ANGEL: My Harrowing Undercover Journey to the Inner Circle of the Hells Angels"
Dobyns became an agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) in 1987; after only ten days on the job he was taken hostage and shot through the chest. This experience of cheating death left Dobyns with a feeling of invincibility, and over the nextNo Angel | The Aging Rebelfourteen years he gladly and willfully immersed himself in numerous undercover roles. But by 2001 he still felt as though he had something to prove. It was at this time that was named the lead undercover agent in an ambitious ATF investigation of the Arizona Hells Angels, code-named Operation Black Biscuit. In NO ANGEL: My Harrowing Undercover Journey to the Inner Circle of the Hells Angels (paperback reprint on sale February 2), Dobyns offers his action-packed first-person account of that twenty-one-month investigation. Operation Black Biscuit required Dobyns to leave his family behind and transform himself into a menacing, gun-dealing, shaved-head, inked-out, goateed "debt collection specialist" who rode a Harley everywhere and always carried his twin Glock 19s for all to see. For Dobyns and his fellow agents, the mission was to form their own biker gang and gain so much respect from the Arizona Hells Angels that they would willingly take the operatives under their ominous, conspiratorial wings. But as the case progressed, Jay's personal goal morphed into an obsession: More than respect, he wanted to garner the Angels' admiration and even fear. Ultimately, and at any cost, Jay felt as though he had to become the first government operative to gain "full-patch" status in the infamous Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. NO ANGEL paints a vivid picture of the biker world that quickly consumed Dobyns. He spent his days and nights surrounded by violent felons, knowing that the slightest mistake could cost him and his team their lives. At runs and clubhouses, between rides and riots, Bird befriended badass bikers, meth-fueled "old ladies," gun fetishists, psycho-killer ex-cons, and even some of the elite Hells Angels who've committed extreme violence on behalf of their club.

Mystic Cool Ebook - Buy ... http://www.MysticCool.com. The winner receives the same six free stress eraser sessions Outside Magazine featured from Don Goewey in January 2010's issue. To enter, answer the question by midnight March 31st, 2010: 'Who would I be if I could transcend stress for good?' The winner will be announced April 1, 2010 (because you'd be a fool not to enter and eliminate stress for good from your life). Goewey is featured in this month's Outside Magazine, where a journalist was commissioned to undergo six coaching sessions with him and report on the results. "Three weeks into my effort," the journalist reports in the article, "I'd become … much better at maintaining a calm, pragmatic mind-set. In my new calmer state, I'm much more productive." The journalist describes how, in particular, Goewey's "clear button" technique gave her a stress off switch. "The chief factor blocking the brain's capacity to generate brilliance is stress. A dynamically peaceful attitude lights up neural networks that generate a fearless intelligence, making us immune to stress. The result is the joy of creative action in which we not only excel, but excel in ways that make work and life intrinsically rewarding. Who wouldn't want a brain like that? It's achievable and in a relatively short period of time," Goewey says. Mystic Cool combines the latest research in neuroscience and psychology with practical spiritual insights. The book represents more than just "stress reduction." It is a stress solution that unlocks the brain power needed to excel in ways that make work rewarding and family life fulfilling.

"THE BLACK-WHITE ACHIEVEMENT GAP:  Why Closing It Is the Greatest Civil Rights Issue of Our Time" -- By Former Secretary of Education, Rod Paige   After African Americans have overcome so many obstacles, inequality in the education system remains. Black students trail their white peers on academic tests, experience high dropout rates and low Rod Paigecollege completion rates, and tend to shy away from majors in hard sciences and mathematics. These students fall behind early on in school and fall farther behind as each year passes?the achievement gap growing at every grade level. As former U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige, PED, and Elaine Witty, Ed.D., put forth in their new book, this gap is the primary barrier to racial equality and social justice in our time. "THE BLACK-WHITE ACHIEVEMENT GAP: Why Closing It Is the Greatest Civil Rights Issue of Our Time" is a call to action for civil rights leaders, educators, and all Americans to confront this crisis in our classrooms.  The causes of this gap are not the common explanations socioeconomic disparities, pathological culture, genetics, or black identity?but educational deprivation. These children are not learning effectively?lacking fundamentals, high expectations, and great teaching as well as  the support and commitment from home, school, and community.

Stephen Mitchell "The Second Book of the Tao"

The most widely translated book in world literature after the Bible,  Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living. Following the phenomenal success of his own version of the Tao Te Ching, renowned scholar and translator Stephen Mitchell has composed the innovative THE SECOND BOOK OF THE TAO from two Chinese anthologies:
 ... The Second Book of the Taothe work of Lao-tzu’s disciple Chuang-tzu and Confucius’s grandson Tzussu, The Second Book of the Tao offers Western readers a path into reality that has nothing to do with Taoism or Buddhism or old or new alone, but everything to do with truth. Mitchell has selected the freshest, clearest teachings from these two great students of the Tao and adapted them into versions that reveal the poetry, depth, and humor of the original texts with a thrilling new power. Alongside each adaptation, Mitchell includes his own commentary, at once explicating and complementing the text. “The first book of the Tao (written by the perhaps legendary Lao-tzu) is the Tao Te Ching, that marvel of lucidity and grace, the classic manual on the art of living. What I wanted to create here was a left to its right, a yang to its yin, a companion volume and anti-manual. The Chuang-tzu had the perfect material for that: deep, subtle, with an audacity that can make your hair stand on end. If Lao-tzu is a smile, Chuang-tzu is a belly-laugh.   the clown of the Absolute, the apotheosis of incredulity, Coyote among the bodhisattvas. And the Chung Yung provided a psychological and moral acuity of comparable depth The Second Book of the Tao is a twenty-first-century form of ancient wisdom, bringing a new, homemade sequel to the Tao Te Ching into the modern world.   renditions are radiantly lucid; they dig out the vision that’s hiding beneath the words; they grab the text by the scruff of the neckâ€"by its heart, reallyâ€"and let its essential meanings fall out. The book introduces us to a cast of vivid characters, most of them humble artisans or servants, who show us what it means to be in harmony with the way things are. Its wisdom provides a psychological and moral acuity as deep as the Tao Te Ching itself. The Second Book of the Tao is a gift to contemporary readers, granting us access to our own fundamental wisdom.  meditations and risky reimagining of the original texts are brilliant and liberating, not least because they keep catching us off-guard, opening up the heavens where before we saw a roof. He makes the ancient teachings at once modern, relevant, and timeless. Stephen Mitchell was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1943, educated at Amherst, the Sorbonne,and Yale, and de-educated through intensive Zen practice. His many books include the bestselling Tao Te Ching, The Gospel According to Jesus, Bhagavad Gita, The Book of Job, Meetings with the Archangel, and Gilgamesh.

Guests on Show: Jon Naar "The Faith of Graffiti"
In 1973, author Norman Mailer teamed with photographer Jon Naar to produce The Faith of Graffiti, a fearless exploration of the birth of the street art movement in New York City. The book coupled Mailer's essay on the origins and importance of graffiti in modern urban culture faith.graffitiwith Naar's radiant, arresting photographs of the young graffiti writers' work. The result was a powerful, impressionistic account of artistic ferment on the streets of a troubled and changing city—and an iconic documentary record of a critical body of work now largely lost to history. This new edition of The Faith of Graffiti, the first in more than three decades, brings this vibrant work—the seminal document on the origins of street art—to contemporary readers. Photographer Jon Naar has enhanced the original with thirty-two pages of additional photographs that are new to this edition, along with an afterword in which he reflects on the project and the meaning it has taken on in the intervening decades. It stands now, as it did then, as a rich survey of a group of outsider artists and the body of work they created—and a provocative defense of a generation that questioned the bounds of authority over aesthetics. THE FAITH OF GRAFFITI is the classic, definitive documentation of the birth of graffiti as an art form. On the 35th anniversary of the book's initial publication, Norman Mailer's 1974 ground-breaking introduction remains the foundational defense of graffiti as a valid medium of aesthetic expression—a document that challenged and changed the cultural dialogue about the role and place of art in our society. Jon Naar, whose legendary photographs inspired Mailer to become the "A.1" (Aesthetic Investigator) of the graffiti phenomenon that exploded in New York in the early 1970s, is available to discuss the ever hot-button controversy of the meaning of graffiti as art, vandalism?

• The recent banning in NYC of roll-down steel gates, which may put an end to graffiti as we know it. Does the good for NYC outweigh the bad for art?;
• Giuliani's campaign against graffiti in the 1990s, and what he feels about NYC's relatively graffiti-free streets today;
• Working with the legendary Norman Mailer, the literary lion who died in 2007;
• Whether or not the established art world has sufficiently embraced graffiti as an art form;
• How graffiti culture has changed over the years;
• What is the worldwide significance of graffiti as a "viral" force in today's digital generation?
• What are the graffiti writers he knew in the 70s doing today? And how different are they from today's generation of writers

Guest #1: #4 Flight Time Lang

Flight Time Lang - Harlem Globetrotters  Position: G
Date of Birth: 08/01/1976
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 195 lbs
College: Centenary College (La.) '98
Hometown: Brinkley, Arkansas

Harlem Globetrotters ball handling wizard Flight Time Lang is a self-proclaimed reality TV junkie. This fall, he got his chance to be the one people are watching from their living rooms, ... no 4 herb flight time langas he and teammate Big Easy Lofton had an exciting ride on their way to a top-four finish in season 15 of the Emmy Award-winning series "The Amazing Race." The two faced one of the fastest courses ever assembled on the Race - spanning eight countries in just 21 days. The oldest of nine kids, Flight Time played many sports growing up, like football. In his first game in seventh grade, he broke off a 65-yard run to the end zone... or so he thought. "I put the ball down and started celebrating. The only problem was, I wasn't in the end zone yet," he chuckles. Success would come easier on the hardwood, as Flight Time earned all-state, all-region and all-conference honors in high school, and then starred at Centenary College, where he was a first-team all-conference selection and a conference scoring champ. A standout student, Flight Time was named the 1998 Male Student Athlete of the Year at Cetenary, made the Dean's List twice and graduated with a degree in health/physical education. Flight Time is one of the Globetrotters' most talented dribblers. "I like to look at old videos of Globetrotters like Marques Haynes and Curly Neal. I've had the good fortune of playing Curley Boo Johnson over the years, and he taught me a lot. He's the best dribbler I have ever witnessed first-hand." Of course, he's nicknamed Flight Time for a reason. He was only 5-10 when he dunked for the first time in a game (as a high school junior), and he says it was like a dream. "People were kind of in awe and hanging over the railings in the stands. A guy on the other team got a dunk the very next play, but the crowd didn't pay attention to that." He got to display his dunking abilities before a live ESPN audience in 1998, as he captured the NABC Slam Dunk Contest at the Final Four in San Antonio. Flight Time enjoys the opportunity to visit all parts of the world with the Globetrotters. "You get to see that things aren't always what they seem to be. I am glad that I had an opportunity to see that up close and personal, instead of only being able to see many of the bad things that are shown on TV. I do think we live in the greatest country on the planet, but I have realized that people are happy all over the world." Making people happy is what Flight Time and the Harlem Globetrotters are all about.

Baa Baa Black Sheep was being produced and cast at Universal, and the now famous writer Stephen J. Cannell was the executive producer and the role was a natural for Larry. He was cast as a cocky, hot shot pilot named Bobby Boyle. The show was a big hit for NBC but was cancelled within two years. Because the network was so impressed with Larry's on-screen presence, they cast him in a new series called The Duke. Bad luck! The Duke was cancelled in one year. Greg Crister  -  "Eternity Soup"  - "Somebody's Gotta Die to make room"
Bringing his signature wit and insight to the field of biogerentology, Critser (Fat Land, Generation Rx) produces a vigorous report of frontier science, charlatanry, and hope for a new, much longer, way of life. Beginning with a discussion with his septuagenarian parents, eternity%20soup%201.pngho receive "compounded hormone" treatment from a "longevity doctor," Critser travels the U.S. to investigate the enterprises "forging onward into a brave new pro-longevist world." (Crister's own horse in the race-besides finding the natural aging process "cruel, capricious and unrelenting"-is a "form of accelerated brain aging" he suffers as a result of a concussion.) Crister's first stop is a gathering of the Caloric Restriction Society, which advocates minimal caloric intake as a way of slowing cell damage; a conference breakfast consists of five blueberries and three potato chips. More trendy, and pricey, is hormone treatment, which claims to "add thirty years to maximum life span," backed up by promising trials on mice (though more recent studies have called the science into question). Critser's own course of treatment turns out ambiguously, but sends him to an intriguing third line of research, bio-engineering replacement body parts and other tissues from a patient's own cells. A light and critical eye makes this excursion into front-end science an entertaining, enlightening trek.
