And as the economy has worsened, law enforcement is reporting a spike in the home burglary rate nationwide. To create the perfect storm for this kind of unlawful activity, we are approaching the summer season, when more break-ins occur as people spend time away from their homes. Kathleen Baty, “The Safety Chick” is a mother and a former victim of stalking and home invasion. She authored a book called A Girl’s Gotta Do What a Girl’s Gotta Do: The Ultimate Survival Guide to Living Smart and Safe about taking a proactive approach to personal safety. In interviews on May 28th, Baty will be joined by Merlin Guilbeau, director of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association to talk about keeping your homes and families safe in an environment that seems to increasingly threaten our security.
