Billie Jean King - Tennis Legend 
Billie Jean King is the winner of 39 Grand Slam singles, doubles and mixed-doubles tennis titles, including a record 20 titles at Wimbledon . She founded the Women’s Sports Foundation, Women’s Sports Magazine, and co-founded GreenSlam, an environmental initiative for the sports industry. She also co-founded World TeamTennis, the groundbreaking co-ed professional tennis league and founded the World TeamTennis Recreational League, one of the most popular recreational tennis formats in the U.S. As one of the 20th century's most respected and influential people, Billie Jean King has long been a champion for social change and equality. In August 2009 King was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, and was previously named one of the “100 Most Important Americans of the 20th Century” by Life Magazine in 1990. Earlier this year she was appointed to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. Billie Jean King has always paid close attention to her health. Four years ago, when her blood sugar levels were elevating, King’s doctor diagnosed her with type 2 diabetes. As part of her diabetes treatment regimen, King eats healthy and stays active.

Sylvia Meléndez-Klinger is a skilled media representative, with numerous television, radio and internet credits. She has appeared on NBC, CBS, Fox, CNN en Español, America TeVe, Telemundo and Univision, where she is a frequent guest on popular programs such as “Despierta America,” "Noticiero Telemundo Chicago," and "En Contexto."  Sylvia is the nutritionist on "Hispanics Today," a nationally syndicated news and lifestyle television program. She has also been a guest nutritionist on many Hispanic radio talk shows, and is a frequent guest on the Valder Beebe Show.  Sylvia has presented at hundreds of conferences, most recently at the Women's Conference in Tabasco, Mexico and the Global Conference on Health and Lifestyle (Geneva, Switzerland) sponsored by the World Health Organization.  Other conferences include: The International Association of Culinary Professionals; Conference of La Cumbre de las Américas de Nutrición y Salud; School Nutrition Association (SNA); National Association of Bilingual Educators (NABE); LULAC; MANA; MAOF; COMADRES; and 2006 National Hispanic Women’s Conference.  Sylvia Meléndez-Klinger is a registered dietician of the American Dietetic Association and a licensed dietitian nutritionist. She was awarded Outstanding Dietitian of 2009 by the Illinois Dietetic Association - West Suburban Chapter. The Chicago Dietetic Association honored her as "Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year" in 1994.
