10/04-Charlie Scola, Larry Smith

Charlie Scola – aka “Party Charlie”
Celebrity party planner, author and motivational speaker. Talk to him about celeb parties he’s planned, how to throw a great party whether it’s fro 2 or 200.

Charlie Scola, "Party Charlie" as he's affectionately known, has been planning parties and catering to celebrities, politicians and corporate executives for more than three decades. His definition of a party is when "two or more people gather to lift each other's spirits and celebrate life." Charlie provides healthy suggestions for audiences with ideas how to eat and socialize with gusto!  “The best advice I can give anyone is party, celebrate and socialize your way to health and success,” says the author and innovator in the food and catering industry.
Charlie's new book is called "Party Planning Secrets: The Ultimate Guide to a Successful Party."  Charlie believes you can “party hearty,” but you should do it with a healthy attitude. Socializing is very beneficial for health reasons, he believes.  “Doctors suggest to party, celebrate and socialize to boost your immune system, and social contact in a friendly, upbeat environment is extremely reinforcing to who we are.  By nature we are social creatures.” Says Charlie, “We need to jump into the game of life.” Meeting people at social events is good for your professional life. “Even if you’re a guest of a guest, it automatically validates you to be on the guest list.  This brings you into the circle.” Charlie offers a personal approach as well. “Want to be a kind neighbor?” he asks. “If you know somebody who’s a little down or lonely, next time you’re invited to a party, do them a life-changing favor – invite them!”

Larry Smith –Chef from “Jerry’s”
neighborhood restaurant outside Chicago in Winnetka, Ill.

He prepares seasonal menus and has a new one for fall- his specialty is Butternut Squash Lasagna.
First came the change in season, now the change in supper. Not only is it cooling down, so warm meals are a must, but the flavors of fall are in full bloom. Jerry’s is taking full advantage of the best fall has to offer with a great seasonal take on the traditional lasagna dinner.
“We love to play around with fresh, seasonal ingredients,” said Jerry’s and Corner Cooks Chef Bridget Burns, “and to do it with such a fantastic comfort food like lasagna makes it something anyone can do at home.”
Jerry’s Butternut Squash Lasagna is made with smoky butternut squash puree and hydroponic (…that’s just the fancy way of saying it grew in nutrient rich water instead of soil) watercress. It’s sure to become one of your fall favorites!
