Miss America 2009 Katie Stam is making her passion for community service a priority during her year of service. So it’s only fitting that the 22-year old pageant winner is helping to grant wishes for military families through a special program called, HEROES AT HOME. Heroes at Home is a joint effort between Sears Holdings and Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading NON-PROFIT working to preserve affordable home ownership by providing free home rehabilitation. The mission of Heroes at Home is to ensure that military families are living in safe, warm and comfortable homes – a dream come true for many veterans, and especially important during this troubled economy and housing crisis. In celebration of Armed Forces Day on May 16th and Memorial Day, this May 25th, Katie can tell your viewers how they can help a new generation of military families in need by nominating LOCAL veterans for the Heroes at Home program.



Rick Schwartz - San Diego Zoo
Rick Schwartz is a senior animal keeper for the San Diego Zoo and also serves as the Elephant Odyssey ambassador. He joined the Zoo in 2000 and is responsible for the care of more than 30 different species of animals and works with other keepers and the veterinary staff to improve the physical and psychological well being of the animals. Schwartz came to the San Diego Zoo with seven years of professional training and animal care experience from his work as a wildlife specialist at the Tropicana Resort in Las Vegas, animal training experience with Guide Dogs for the Blind and Universal Studio’s Animal Actors show. He is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Association of Zoo Keepers.
